Today President Nursultan Nazarbayev Holds Meeting on Entrepreneurship Development

Among the participants of the meeting were Prime Minister Karim Massimov, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament Kairat Mami, Chairman of the Majilis of the Parliament Nurlan Nigmatulin, Secretary of State Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed, Chief of the Executive Office of the President Aslan Musin, Chairman of the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund, JSC Umirzak Shukeyev, Chairman of the Presidium of the  Atameken Union National Economic Chamber of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the KazEnergy Legal Entities Association of Oil, Gas and Energy Sector Organizations Timur Kulibayev, and other representatives of the National Economic Chamber of Kazakhstan.

Opening the meeting, the President noted that the necessary conditions are created by the government for the sustainable development of businesses. The President of Kazakhstan emphasized that share of small and medium businesses in GDP grew to 21% from 17%. Nursultan Nazarbayev set a task to increase the share of small and medium-sized businesses to 40% in GDP by 2020.

“In 2011, Kazakhstan shifted from 64th to 47th place in the World Bank’s Doing Business report. According to the World Bank, Kazakhstan is entered the list of leading countries with such indicators as starting a business, registration of equity, protection of investors, taxation, provision of contracts, liquidation of enterprises. The Government has been focused on three directions of support to the development of businesses. These measures allowed the small and medium-sized businesses to move to a new level of development. They include reduction of administrative barriers, improvement of tax and customs administration, and expansion of financial instruments,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

At the end of the meeting the President tasked the Government together with the business community and organizations on the protection of consumers’ rights with working on this issue and prepararing specific suggestions.
